The Hammer
When people enter Wholeness/Recovery work, they often only have a “hammer” and a “screwdriver” in their toolbox. And because of that, every problem looks like a nail or a screw. They don’t realize all the other OPTIONS and CHOICES available to them. We would never expect a carpenter to build a house with just a hammer. How would he take accurate measurements, cut boards, wire, or paint walls? He wouldn’t be very successful and would probably feel quite frustrated.
On our wholeness journey at Edge of the Red Sea, the hammer represents our most comfortable go-to emotion. For many of us, it’s our anger. For others, it’s depression or sadness. For others, it might be numbness or energy and joy.
Just as there are more than two tools (hammers and screwdrivers), there are numerous wholeness recovery tools (choices) and problems to be solved. Join our community to learn more!
